Ernest brings over 25 years’ experience in C-level positions, working alongside CEOs, boards, and executive teams while leading the financial, operational, and administrative aspects of companies. A mature, steady-handed executive seasoned in growth, turnaround, and other unique special situations, coming out of everything from entrepreneurial, fast-paced start-ups to mid-caps to Fortune 500.
Leveraging a distinct ability to rapidly learn new industries, Ernest has accrued a diverse background, inclusive of residential homebuilding, commercial real estate development, property management, general contracting and construction management, insurance brokerage, real estate sales, residential rental portfolio management, enterprise software, SaaS, telecom, e-commerce/B2B/B2C, IP commercialization, import/export shipping, forensic accounting, travel and hospitality, and more recently, medical clinics and a biopharma start-up.
Previously, Ernest was the Chief Financial Officer for: National Home Corporation (and Founder, nationwide production homebuilder); Benchmark Builders, LLC (NYC commercial general contractor); ASG Technologies, Inc. (enterprise software and SaaS, acquired by Rocket Software); WCI Communities, Inc., (large public residential high-rise and master planned community residential developer, acquired by Lennar); Ground Travel Technology, Inc. (hospitality software and services provider); and Walker Digital, LLC (venture capital portfolio and IP R&D lab). Before these roles, he was the Controller for AT&T’s $23 billion Consumer Services division.
His extensive experience brings competencies derived from a variety situations in private, PE-owned, and publicly traded companies, including over $5 billion of debt and equity financings, GAAP accounting, SEC reporting, strategic planning and growth management, domestic and international M&A and integrations, business transition/exit/sale, treasury/cash management, profitability maximization, risk management and insurance, public company readiness, forensic accounting, accounting policy and procedures, creditor and stakeholder negotiations, bankruptcy/restructuring, activist situation management, financial staffing, team building and coaching, as well as managing dozens of engagements of auditor, tax, and valuation professionals.
Ernest is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in the State of New Jersey and holds a Certified Global Management Accountant designation (CMGA) and a Certification in Financial Forensics (CFF), each from the American Institute of CPAs. Ernest is also a licensed realtor in the state of New Jersey. He received a BA in Accounting from William Paterson University, his MBA in Finance and International Business from The Stillman School of Business at Seton Hall University and has completed an Advanced Management Program at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business.
