Michael Hess
Senior Controller
Michael Hess has over twenty-five years of accounting and finance experience, including six years in public accounting at both local and “Big 4” CPA firms, and approximately twenty years in controller, assistant controller, manager, staff accountant, and financial reporting roles.
Mike has worked in industries such as health care, software and technology, telecommunications, private education, energy production, restaurant and franchising, construction, mining, and real estate and has a proven track record working with medium and large size organizations seeking debt, venture capital or public market funding. Mike has been the finance team lead for numerous debt and equity funding due diligence projects, including while working in the role of corporate controller for a software company during a $500 million dollar sale to healthcare giant Aetna.
Since 2006, Mike has also worked on a part-time contract basis providing bookkeeping, controllership, technical accounting, and financial reporting services to small public reporting companies. Mike’s progressive accounting experience allows him to provide services such as accounting consulting, and reporting for complex debt, equity, revenue, leasing, derivative, fair value, and business combination transactions, to name a few. Mike’s experience also allows him to confidently advocate for his clients on complex accounting and reporting issues, act as an extension of the client team, and liaison to external audit firms, potential investors, lenders, and other outside parties, relieving pressure on existing staff and ensuring timely and accurate completion of complex accounting and financial reporting tasks.
Mike has a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Utah, a Master of Professional Accountancy degree with an Institutional Certification in Information Systems and Technology from Weber State University, and has held a CPA license in the state of Utah for over 20 years.
Mike, his wife Carli, daughter Roxanne and son James live in beautiful Naples, Florida, and enjoy all the sporting and outdoor activities South Florida has to offer.
